Detail

After the fix for Item4946 writing non-English in iso-8859-1 is totally broken.

All you have to do is create a topic. Save it. Open it in the raw editor. Write some text like ...

"Danmarks m√•ske kommende statsminister Lars L√¬łkke Rasmussen er ikke s√• indlysende en kandidat til posten som for blot et par uger siden, skriver Morgenavisen Jyllands-Posten."

and save.

And then edit the topic in the Wysiwyg editor. It seems the Wysiwyg code still converts to utf-8even though I have set TWiki to run iso-8859-1.

This is really wierd, because it was working yesterday.

Anyway, it emerges that the particular string you were using highlighted the problem, which is good. What happens is that the string is stored in the textarea on the browser in the site charset, but when it is sent back to the server in an XmlHttpRequest, it is run through encodeURIComponent first (the recommended procedure). What I didn't realise was that this function UTF-8 encodes the string, so that it needs to be converted back to the site charset on the server.

Works much better now.

Closing (bug never exposed in a release so no need to add it to release note)
