Does this site look broken?. Use the LitterTray web for test cases.

With the Firefox browser,(Linux, Mac, and Win) printing a table that spans pages, will truncate the table at the end of the first printout page. If the table is longer than a one page printout. Anything following the table will be printed on the top of the page following the table.

Don't know about other browsers. This is also true using the Printable view. Using print preview saves the pain of actually printing.
Here is a working example that can be replicated.

Tried this with ?skin=none and ?skin=classic, and it works fine. Therefore this is an artifact of patternSkin. MD, you may want to check NatSkin as well.

just remember the problem is with the "layout.css" file and the inline CSS styles combination.

This is still a problem in 4.1 code.

If I print in FF with PatternSkin the tables are truncated.

If I print in FF with Plain skin the tables are not truncated.

This is a known FF bug which will not be fixed in a long time according to the FF bug tracking site. Even when people are shouting the FF guys say that they will not fix it until a next generation - maybe 1-2 years from now.

It really should not be some CSS that prevents people from printing so I propose we remove the CSS that prevents Tables from printing. A print view which cannot print in FF is not really worth much. I'd rather have an more primitive looking table then one that gets truncated.

Bumping to urgent

This is all firefox' fault: the relevant bug is 4 years, 5 months, 2 weeks, 3 days and 11 hours old by now (2006-12-11, 10:25). ...

This bug is not related to tables but solely on FF's inability to print a page that imports css. Wrt NatSkin, FF will print fine if you remove the %GETSKINSTYLE% from view.print.nat.tmpl. But I want styled printouts.

MD

Yes. I wrote that it is a known FF issue.

But it does not matter who's fault it is. When you print you do not get much styles anyway on a B/W laser. And as it is now I can hardly print any TWiki topic in FF without loosing parts of the topic. Ie. forget about using FF. We do not have control over FF and their lack of judgement of what is important. But we do have control over TWiki

Solved for Firefox Mac. Need to test for windows. Verified to work on windows as well.
