The
WebTopicEditTemplate has much improved recently.
One detail that should be addressed. If you have 10K topics in a web it takes quite a while to create a new topic via the Jump box. This is because the WebTopicEditTemplate has a link to
WebTopicCreator that shows all topics to select a parent.
Suggestion: Offer two links, one question mark type link to create the new topic directly, and one via the WebTopicCreator topic.

This is expecially irritating to those of us who don;t use the parent link, ever.
Alternatively populate the parent box via an AJAX request. That would be a lot more user friendly.

I would be in favor of using AJAX. But
TWiki:Codev.AddAjaxContribsToDistribution has been halted.

AJAX isn't needed if we have the format tokens in IF.
CC
What conditional are you thinking of then?
AC
See what I just checked in (you may hate it, but hey, it works
)
CC
I think it looks fine.
We can always add a sexy Ajax solution in Georgetown. By then we will have a good Ajax framework integrated in the default TWiki distribution.
We have so many open bugs at the moment (the highest we have had before a release since 4.0.0 I believe) that it is better to focus on fixing those than making sexy solutions for this little detail. What CC did here does the job well for this purpose and I look forward to not having to wait for the long list of parents.
KJL
I agree this works fine enough. bad usability: the entered topic name is lost when you click on the "Pick from list" link.
