The table below is supposed to have visible table rules between all columns.
But in Internet Explorer 6 you cannot see them
Seems to be a style issue. It is only in
PatternSkin we have the problem.

I have had many comments about the missing lines and I thought it was just the default setting that was made this way. But I have tried for an hour now to make them visible and it turns out to be only in IE that the problem is.

The tablerules are in conflict with style sheets. I cannot manage to have the one and the other. O yeah, the missing vertical lines is a pattern skin style.

Why do I have vertical lines in Firefox and not in IE?
We need to be able to have vertical lines. In many tables it is difficult to separate the columns from each other without.
How do we get it to work in IE? It has worked before.

I can see on
TWiki:Plugins.TablePlugin that I am not the only one having problems with the tablerule feature. It is totally broken. We need a solution to that. We cannot have a default plugin where a feature does not work in the default skin. And it seems tablerules is not the only broken feature. At least there are other
TablePlugin features that I just tried where I see no effect at all.
If the CSS does not work with the plugin then that it not the right way to do it. It is important to be able to have vertical rules in a large table. Otherwise they become impossible to read. And it gets even worse when you print them.
The fix for this is a 4.1.3 candidate.

Hmm, yes,
tablerules=all
should work but doesn't.

This is a release blocker for 4.2
It bugs me that I have to hack the CSS files to get the vertical rulers back and even when I do that I end up with strange double vertical lines in some tables probably because I probably do not understand the css well enough. TWiki has has a feature of setting the grid lines for ages and now they are broken. This needs to get fixed back to working.

I wrote above that the vertical rules are not visible in IE6.
Same is the same in IE7.
We need this one fixed for 4.2.0
The features defined in the
TablePlugin must all work in our default skin and in the most common browser.

Is there are chance we can get this fixed soon? There are so many enhancements done to the
PatternSkin all the time so it should be this bug's turn to be fixed (open since March).
There has just been a new report on it on
TWiki:Plugins.TablePluginDev.
4.2.0 will not be released without this urgent bug fixed. It is one I wanted merged to Patch04x01 also. It is a severe bug that table rulers stopped working in 4.1. It may only be IE that is affected but that means 90-95% of business users.

Sure, I was planning to tackle this as well. I've been holding off in favor of a couple of small fixes because I am afraid it won't be a small fix.

TWiki:Main.ArthurClemens - 06 Jun 2007
I have a quick fix. Need to look at cleaner handling of css code, but that would be an enhancement.
--
TWiki:Main.ArthurClemens - 23 Jun 2007
This one is not fixed. I still cannot see vertical bars in IE
--
TWiki:Main.KennethLavrsen - 26 Jun 2007
Perhaps the very latest change has reverted the fix. I will look again when I am at a pc.

TWiki:Main.ArthurClemens - 26 Jun 2007
yes, pattern css styles were overriding table styles again. I added css styling for
tableframe
as well.
Somehow the
TestCaseTablePlugin does not fully work on IE, but individual tables do. That suggests that the generated html makes IE misinterpret the tables on the test page.
