Several admin users have complained that each time you upgrade to a new minor/major version and when you install first time you need to hack
ResetPassword,
ChangePassword and
ChangeEmailAddress just to remove a note to the admin.
There are two situations.
- Either you use an internal password manager that handles passwords and emails in .htpasswd.
- Or you use a different password scheme and the 3 topics are irrelevant.
This creates two different actions today
- Internal password manager: Need to remove admin notes in yellow
- External password manager: Need to replace with text that is specific to the company. E.g. a link to a corporate password website.
The notes in yellow themselves are a great secret to the admin. It is not smart to assume that the new admin will browse all topics in the TWiki web and change the ones with a yellow note. It is the installation document that should point the admin to these 3 special topics. I have recently in SVN 14631 improved this installation step. So I will now remove these yellow notes. Then the situation becomes
- Internal password manager: You do not have to do anything
- External password manager: Need to replace with text that is specific to the company. E.g. a link to a corporate password website.
So for most new admins that probably use the default internal passwords it becomes easier. And for the advanced with LDAP password server or whatever it is business as usual. The loss of the yellow text has little or no negative effect now that the installation document is improved. We may later want to make this detail even smarter. But this will do for 4.2.0 --

Same story with
TWikiRegistration. Will abuse this bug item for that as well since it is the same type of problem and just doc work.
