Detail

Look at http://develop.twiki.org/~twiki4/cgi-bin/view/TWiki/WebTopicCreator?raw=debug

I would really prefer that view templates are not respected when you raw=debug

Otherwise the only way to see content when trouble shooting is at file level. And I do not want to give all admins root or file level access to the webserver.

raw=on and raw=debug should show me the "code".

-- TWiki:Main/KennethLavrsen - 01 Oct 2007

After I read the f***ing manual I can see that there is a raw=all that will ignore the templates. Guess that is OK then.

-- TWiki:Main/KennethLavrsen - 05 Oct 2007

Currently http://develop.twiki.org/~twiki4/cgi-bin/view/TWiki/WebTopicCreator?raw=all is an empty topic?

-- TWiki:Main.SteffenPoulsen - 05 Oct 2007

It is empty because it sets a VIEW_TEMPLATE in META. Which is causing the problem in Item4755.

-- TWiki:Main.ArthurClemens - 05 Oct 2007

Well. Then we actually have a bug. The raw=all is documented to be showing everythintg including META.

Re-opening and changing title. It is important for an admin that he can quickly see the raw file when debugging problems for users without having to ssh into the webserver to look at files.

The bug is that view=all does not ignore the VIEW_TEMPLATE. view=all should shown the raw file in the browser - provided that you have access - and in a way that no scripting or HTML is shown as such in the browser. We need to see the raw text uninterpreted which probably means encoding some characters. We already do that it seems. The only problem seems to be that we do not ignore the template.

-- TWiki:Main.KennethLavrsen - 06 Oct 2007

Fixed. All template inputs are now ignored with raw=debug and raw=all. Both URL and settings. raw=on and raw=text will still respect view templates in case someone will use this for ajax etc.

-- TWiki:Main.KennethLavrsen - 06 Oct 2007

Most people are still irritated if you click on "Raw view" and you don't get a raw view. The standard url of "Raw view" is using a raw=on which still is respecting view templates ... which it shouldn't. raw=on is pretty useless to ajax as far as I can see. You could use a skin=text or similar.

Anybody using raw=on for ajaxing, last chance: PLEASE SPEAK UP.

Reopening and marking it as urgent.

You should open a new bug item.

Is this a release blocker for 4.2.1 or for 5.0?

-- TWiki:Main.KennethLavrsen - 30 Apr 2008

Ah ok, created Item5593 and closing this one again.
