The /path/to/my/twiki/installation/ path has to be entered at approximately 10 fields, each with a different directory ending. We could have one path field and use that value to 'guess' the other paths.

TWiki:Main.PeterThoeny also made the same point.

I considered this, but given how easy it is to cut-and-paste, and the fact that those paths are entered once and once only and may be different, I considered it to be more trouble than it was worth to work out all the modes of interaction.

I really don't think it's worth the effort. Any other opinions?

To add a bit of fuel: I think we should get as close to a 'one click installer' as we can. So try to prevent cut and paste. It is true those paths may change, but then only for the seasoned users/admins. -- AC

Right - which is why the paths are guessed the first time you run configure. I think that anyone doing a basic install has been provided with everything they need to just run configure and hit "save". Try it and see! I'm closing this, because I'm pretty much certain everything needed is in place, unless there are specific bugs. CC

Summary configure could have simpler path entry
