Some topic, cannot be rendered and give a "Out of memory!".

One topic for instance is TWikiVariablesAtoM.

I have no clue as to where to search for the problem. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I fill this issue as Urgent, as is prevents me from migrating to 4.0.1.

You could start by filling in details, so we can have an idea on how to reproduce the problem? smile

Machine / OS / Webserver / Perl - configuration+setup for all four parts.

Best of all if you could create a virtual machine using http://www.vmware.com/products/server/, reproducing the problem.

But the problem might be, just as stated, that you need more memory in your machine - perhaps extend your swap partition?

I'm setting this low + waiting for feedback until it can be reproduced.

I knew I'd forgot something :-). Sorry for the lack of information.

rcs -V RCS version 5.7

This is perl, v5.8.2 built for i686-linux

Debian GNU/ 3.0 Linux 2.4.29_IMU-012 #1 SMP

Apache Server version: Apache/1.3.33 (Unix)

This is an hosting environment, using cgiwrap (http://cgiwrap.unixtools.org/) which does not put any limitation on memory. This also means that I do not have access to the config file.

A vmstat gives me:

procs memory swap io system cpu
r b w swpd free buff cache si so bi bo in cs us sy id
 1 0 0 415004 63828 0 1193052 0 0 0 1 1 0 1 0 0
I don't have an interactive session, but I have been able to run in parallel a vmstat, it does'nt show any lack of ressources.

I don't think I will be able to put up a vmware environment to reproduce this, I lack a bit of ressources.

Is there a way to activate some kind of debug / verbose logging in TWiki ? I allready have STDERR redirected to a log file, but I only get the "Out of memory!" message.

Marc, we really need to see the topic that is generating the error. Please attach the topic file here, or, if you are unwilling to share it, see if you can generate a non-confidential test-case that demonstrates the same characteristics. And please list the plugins you are using.

I have made the test with all plugins disabled.

The page that causes problem is the TWikiVariablesAtoM from the original distribution.

I have downloaded the TWiki VMware machine, I'll see how I can reproduce this. I have found that there might be a memory limit within the cgiwrap script. I'll let you know if this is the problem.

Any recommendation for limiting memory usage ?

-- Marc

I have made some tests with the VMware image (nice help for debugging BTW) and it is the damn cgiwrap that limit scripts to 16MB of RAM usage that causes the Out of Memory.

Thanks for your help.
