Does this site look broken?. Use the LitterTray web for test cases.

I want to pass a localized string to a TMPL:DEF, like:

%TMPL:P{"button_preview" buttonseparator="%MAKETEXT{"or"}%"}%
but this does not work (I get some trash string in the html, like "}%), and neither do other string alternatives like
%TMPL:P{"button_preview" buttonseparator="%MAKETEXT{'or'}%"}%
%TMPL:P{"button_preview" buttonseparator="%MAKETEXT{\"or\"}%"}%
%TMPL:P{"button_preview" buttonseparator='%MAKETEXT{"or"}%'}%

This is because TMPL:P isn't parsed by the tag parser (it is expanded far too early). Try:

%TMPL:P{"button_preview" buttonseparator="%MAKETEXT{or}%"}%
which ought to work.

This will not be fixed, since it implies a complete re-engineering of the template language.

Summary TMPL:P does not allow to pass MAKETEXT string
