With %IF{}% it is possible to generate improved default selections for ActionTracker forms, making things a little less confusing for the user. I've attached a version which does this.

Here's an example of the logic behind this:

   * Set QSTATE = %URLPARAM{"qstate" default="open"}%

|  State: | <select name="qstate"> \
<option %IF{"$ QSTATE = 'any'"   then="selected"}%>any\
<option %IF{"$ QSTATE = 'open'"   then="selected"}%>open\
<option %IF{"$ QSTATE = 'late'"   then="selected"}%>late\
<option %IF{"$ QSTATE = 'closed'" then="selected"}%>closed\
</select> |

And later,

%ACTIONSEARCH{ who="%QWHO%" %IF{ "$ QNOTIFY != '.*'" then="notify='%QNOTIFY%'" }% %IF{ "$ QSTATE != 'any'" then="state='%QSTATE%'"}% %IF{ "$ QWITHIN != ''" then="within='%QWITHIN%'" }% sort="%QSORT%" topic="%QTOPIC%" web="%QWEB%" }%

Summary ActionTrackerPluginQBE could use %IF{}% to improve the form generation
