TWiki 4.0 made changes to the template search path which seem both unintuitive and not warranted by the discussions about requirements.
In particular, while in general the algorithm is to first find a template that has the skin applied, when looking for a template name
it will first find the template that does not
have the skin applied. That just seems plain wrong.
Please see the history of template path algorithms and further discusion at TWiki:Codev/TemplatePathBuginTWiki4x00
I have asked for a conclusion on this on TWiki:Codev/TemplatePathBuginTWiki4x00
I have no personal oppinion on it. I just want to see either a bug fixed or this discarded or changed to a non-release blocking state so we can release 4.1 soon. Sorry for chasing.
Discarded. See TWiki:Codev.EdinburghReleaseMeeting2006x12x11
"Discarded" seems inconsistent with TWiki:Codev.EdinburghReleaseMeeting2006x12x11
. Moved to enhancement.
Decision from release meeting was
- Do not document the additions under question
- Await further feedback.
It was discarded in the context of 4.1. Enhancement will do as well. But I was sure last night that the item was already covered by another Enhancement bug item and that this one was about what to document in 4.1. I probably mixed up this with another. We keep it as enhancement. And it should already be on the 4.2 Codev wishlist doc so we do not forget it.
I am setting the state to New so we do not keep on opening it the next two weeks.
