Item3147 is closed, hence this new bug entry: Not all environments have LWP::UserAgent installed.

  • Try to use LWP::UserAgent
  • Fall back to TWiki::Net::getUrl
  • Fall back to shell command wget

I set this this to requirement, in anticipation to give a better installation experience. Think about the customer. Think about reducing "I'm giving up" voices during installation. Think about reducing our support load.

See related Item3156

I fail to find any dependency on LWP in configure. Has this been committed to another item? Or is there another dependency I've missed?

-- HJ

This was based on CC's statement in Item3147. After checking I found out that this is not the case. There is a TWiki::Configure::UI::getUrl() that opens directly a socket to download the file from twiki.org.

So am discarding this item.

I opened new Item3266, configure installer should be aware of proxy stettings.
