Curiously the doc form shows the table header even when all fields are set to hidden:
Patch available: https://develop.twiki.org/pub/Bugs/Item3285/hide_empty_form_diff.patch
The form header has its functionality: 1. Indication that there is a form; 2. Access the form definition. I am wondering if the loss in functionality is OK when the form header is no longer visible. Probably it is?
I agree with PTh
. It is not obvious that the header should be gone, just because all form fields are hidden. If one wants to hide the form it is better to use a topic-specific template anyways...
I agree with Thomas and Peter
If someone needs a TWiki app with hidden form, they can always customize a template. It is better that you can see that there is a form.
I wouldn't want to hide the form in all cases. I only find the residue look silly, and it will raise eyebrows of users. I cannot justify it.
What is the intention of the TWiki author that created the form? He set all
fields to hidden, obviously to hide all field contents for the user. Would he still intend to show the name and link of the topic form?
Note that that information is still available when editing the topic.
What do we do when there are no attachments to a topic? We hide the attachment table.
I'm setting this as no action, as it is a behaviour change that should be discussed in Codev before anything can be coded. Please re-open this report when a decision is made and an action can be taken.
