See TWiki:Support.InternalServerErrorRegistration.

  1. Add two e-mail addresses to WIKIWEBMASTER setting, separated by semi-colon
  2. Fill out the registration form, hit submit to register a user
  3. User gets an internal server error message, but receives the e-mail (and can finish the registration)

Apache error log has:

malformed header from script. Bad header=admin1@example.com>; admin2@exampleNOSPAM.com Un: register, referer: http://twiki.example.com/cgi-bin/view/TWiki/TWikiRegistration

A proper error message should be shown if there is an issue sending the mail.

I changed the summary to reflect the real problem.

I improved the checked in configure to detect malformed email addresses.

Checked into MAIN only, you may want to add this to the next patch.

Yes. Good little fix with low risk of breaking anything else.

Merged to Patch04x01
