Please see TWiki:Codev.BugInTopicRenaming
The discussion in this topic is rather old, but there is a report that the bug still exists (albeit it shows that the fix was scheduled for Dakar in the topic).
This bug is not in 4.0.5 and not in 4.1 code.
The topic is from 2005. The person that reported the worry obviously did not try the current 4.0.5
The reporter added another entry:
However this Bug does not come from a outdated version of TWiki on my installation. I have this bug on a actual 4.0.5 version (TWiki-4.0.5, Tue, 24 Oct 2006, build 11822 ) and on a second test system with a TWiki Debian Image for VM Server which runs a 4.0.4 version preconfigured for deployment.
Both installations run with internationalization activated an set to german language. Might this play a role in this bug, occuring on my system, but not on your system?
I can reproduce the bug 100% of the time. Whenever i rename a topic all other topics which include the exact pattern of the renamed topic are also renamed.
example: i rename topic: Backup to OracleBackup -> other topics like OfflineBackup or RmanBackup change to OfflineOracleBackup and RmanOracleBackup.
I have tried it in my TWiki 4.1 installation and the bug does not occur. I have not tried it with Internationalization on activated. (I am sorry to say, I could not get the internationalization to work. Maybe somebody else can test that; I'll encourage the reporter in TWiki:Codev.BugInTopicRenaming

Ken, if you think it is settled that there is no defect, please discard again. Sorry, I just don't want to loose bug reports... as an aside, this duplicate way of reporting, both in the TWiki.org and here is somewhat a nuisance... -- TW
Discarding this, cannot be reproduced.
Please re-open with exact steps to reproduce.
