The code in this area is in a rather mess. Bad formatting, lots of debug code left over, it it performs very badly unnecessarily checking tons of topics and directories, and last not least it simply does not work as it should:

How to check:

  1. create a topic Sandbox.MyAutoattachment
  2. create a file called 20070112.log and move it into the .../twiki/pub/Sandbox/MyAutoattachments directory
  3. enable the AutoAttachPubFiles feature
  4. visit Sandbox.MyAutoattachments using your browser
  5. see if it appears as attachments ... which it doesn't

I presume that this bug is present in all TWiki-4.x as nothing has changed in that area recently.

I did the merge so we do not forget.

If someone actually have added a write restriction to Patch04x01 then please remove it. We do not need that. My guess is that the bug item had been put in waiting for release when you tried Micha.

A quick fix is available for those that just installed TWiki 4.1.0. It will be in release 4.1.1 which is due soon
