Detail

Thanks CC for updating the ItemTemplate and working on TWiki:Codev.Post4Point1BugDBImprovements.

Created a simple new VIEW_TEMPLATE for displaying the form above the topic text, I have applied it at Item1036 for demonstration (uses ItemViewTemplate).

  1. Probably EDIT_TEMPLATE could do with an overhaul also, and
  2. I noticed that on bug creation it is currently not possible to start adding details (text area should be editable on creation)

That is a good move! smile

Suggestion for better usability: The form is kind of big and shows some irrelevant information "above the fold"; it also duplicates the summary. I suggest to add a header at the top with heading and a item quick summary, followed by the main text, and the form (with details) at the bottom.

Hardcoded example of header with summary:

Item3495: New VIEW_TEMPLATE for updated ItemTemplate

Priority: CurrentState: AppliesTo: Component: WaitingFor:
Normal New NotTWiki BugBase

Note: The Priority and CurrentState are most important, so show them first.

Also, the template should have a %COMMENT% box at the bottom.

Suggestion pasted into template - agreed, better use of screen estate / looks better! smile

-- SteffenPoulsen - 23 Jan 2007

The default signature and the one of the COMMENT should be of form: -- TWiki:Main.FirstLast - 2019-10-20

-- PeterThoeny - 24 Jan 2007

Yes good idea - please, someone with write access to the TWiki web please override the above (default) template with that syntax.

-- SteffenPoulsen - 24 Jan 2007

No need to touch the TWiki web, actually we could not because of the automated updates. This is done now with WebTopicEditTemplate and ItemViewTemplate.

Could a CommentPlugin guru define a COMMENT box in the ItemViewTemplate to add a signature of form: -- TWiki:Main/FirstLast - 2019-10-20 (instead of -- Main.FirstLast - 2019-10-20, this without touching the TWiki web because of automated updates)

-- PeterThoeny - 29 Jan 2007

According to CommentPlugin#Customisation it should be possible to override per web using a local UserCommentsTemplate topic (I have overridden threadmode there and the new behavior works at the local topic), but it looks like it doesn't work in the Bugs web in general (i.e. not at this topic?).

Does the UserCommentsTemplate (in TWiki web) need to exist to be able to override it locally? (I think it could be created without disturbing the automatic updates, it is not in SVN).

seems to not be 'being worked on atm'
