Detail

The WYSIWYG_EXCLUDE variable does not seem to work. Having set values of this variable in both the site preferences and the web preferences, the values are ignored and the WYSIWYG editor is allowed to operate on pages which should be forbidden. A limited examination of the code reveals that the restriction should be implemented in the beforeEditHandler routine and the code there looks ok. However, I was unable to find any reference which would invoke that routine, with or without the skin variable mentioned in the comments.

We are experiencing the same problem.

-- TWiki:Main.MarkWieleba - 12 Jul 2007

Dave, which routine? The beforeEditHandler? That is automatically invoked by the TWiki core.

The chances are excellent that you missed this bit in the documentation:

For any of the following controls to work, you must tell WysiwygPlugin the name of the skin being used to invoke the Wysiwyg editor, for example kupu or wikiwyg.

Try setting WYSIWYGPLUGIN_WYSIWYGSKIN = kupu in Main.TWikiPreferences. Re-open this report if there is still a problem.

I need feedback on this please!

-- TWiki:Main.CrawfordCurrie - 01 Aug 2007

Well, something changed but not with the desired outcome.

There's just a blank white page. Nothing else.

I checked the warn, log and debug files but none had any kupu or wyswyg entries in it.

-- TWiki:Main.CarloSchulz - 01 Aug 2007

I made the suggested change but have yet to find any page which the plugin refuses to edit. Of course, after more than four months, I may have forgotten just what was involved. I've avoided direct HTML in my pages since then, using %--% symbols (locally defined) instead.

Thanks guys, any feedback is welcome. Dave, you may need to change the setting of WYSIWYG_EXCLUDE to be more aggressive. You can do this in a single page.

Carlo, please check your apache log for errors, and also the Javascript error console in your browser, and report your findings back to your support request in Support web; this bug is for a different problem.

-- TWiki:Main.CrawfordCurrie - 02 Aug 2007

I'm closing this on the assumption that my analysis was correct.

Sorry, I have to re-open this bug.

I was able to reanimate kupu but now I have exactly the same problem as reported above.

These are my settings in Main.TwikiPreferences

   * Set WYSIWYGSKIN = kupu

   * Set WYSIWYGPLUGIN_WYSIWYGSKIN = kupu

   * Set WYSIWYG_EXCLUDE = calls,html

-- TWiki:Main.CarloSchulz - 10 Aug 2007

It's fine for me with those settings. Which "exactly the same problem" are you referring to; that it ignores the settings, or you get a blank page?

-- TWiki:Main.CrawfordCurrie - 12 Aug 2007

...that it ignores the settings. the blank page came from a NatSkin bug.

I tested several pages with html in it. Some opend in kupu some not but I can't tell why. Are some html tags ignored by kupu?

Have to do some more serious testing to unterstand kupus behaviour regarding the exclude settings...

-- TWiki:Main.CarloSchulz - 14 Aug 2007

No feedback, and testing proves that it's all working as documented (for 4.2 at least) so closing.

CC

TWiki:Support/WYSIWYGExcludeNotWorking suggests that your 4.1.2 users still have a problem. So reopening - for 4.1.2.

KJL

Finger trouble on the part of the user. Closing.
