Detail

Use of ref($var) eq 'ClassName' means that $var has to be exactly that object type; it chokes subclassing. Should always use UNIVERSAL::isa($var, 'ClassName') instead.

This mainly affects plugins, but there are some instances in the core as well that must be corrected before 4.2 is released.

As well as this, a further abstraction is required to allow query caches to be used. More detail to follow.

CC

The additional abstraction allows the query code to load a topic for a ref operator without having to know the details of the store implementation.
