If in a form a text field is marked as "mandatory", a value of "0" (which may be a valid value) is not accepted as valid input but rather treated like missing input.

Seems fixed in 4.2.0. I actually also remember seeing a checkin on SVN that addressed.

Works both from the TWiki perl code and in the Javascript check that was added.

So I set this waiting for release so we get the headline in the release notes.
