To get rid of the Edit button on print-outs, I added the following lines to the end of twiki/pub/TWiki/PatternSkin/print.css (I'm using PatternSkin):

        .editTableEditImageButton {
                display:none;
        }

Could this also be achieved by altering the viewprint template?
