so far, i see

If these are correctly detected in configure, I see no reason not to remove them.

why would these modules be special? we have many other CPAN requirements that administrators might need to install first. also, TWiki:Plugins.TWikiInstallerContrib comes with a complete minicpan of all twiki (and plugins) CPAN modules. (i should expand on this more...)

Let me play the devil's advocate: Is this the right direction to go? TWiki:TWiki.AdminSkillsAssumptions does not mention CPAN knowledge. Up to Cairo it was not necessary to know how to get and build CPAN modules (but it was a labor intensive install process)

The new configure utility and udated UpgradeTWiki utility lower the skills required, which is great. But: With the CPAN rependencies we are actually rasing the skills required to install TWiki. Which might be beyond the skills of many typical first time users (TWiki:Codev.TWikiMission).

I think the minimum goal is to write the documentation at a detailed level so that a person who never heard of CPAN can install TWiki. Also for border cases, such as no root access, and no direct internet access to get CPAN modules.

SVN:6878, SVN:6879 moved the prebuilt CPAN modules currently in the TWiki lib/ space into lib/CPAN/. these are already automatically picked up, so no further modifications to configuration files are necessary.

SVN:6881 adds I18N CPAN:Locale::Maketext::Extract and CPAN:Locale::Maketext::Lexicon

these are the minimum files necessary, so i'm closing this bug. they're out of the twiki/lib/ space, which was my primary objective. any further cpan library downloads will be in some form of CPANContrib

WN

Could someone please shed some light on the CPAN dependencies? May be I miss something and my concern is not a concern?
