Does this site look broken?. Use the LitterTray web for test cases.

The "approved" and "clean and tidy" way for plugins to keep working data is to store it in $cfg{PubUrlPath}/$web/$topic

However with AutomaticAttachments enabled any plugin that uses such storage now makes it visible

Actually the agreement at TWiki:Codev.RecommendedStorageOfPluginData was that they could store it in $cfg{PubUrlPath}/$web/$topic/_{PluginName}/ . AutomaticAttachments will ignore any directory starting with '_' or '.'

We have two choices: alter the plugins or alter AA.

I favour the changing the plugins.

You could do that, but you'd have to change a lot of other things as well.

There are plenty of situations - Codev abounds in them, just look at the topics where we've been discussing the logos - where ther are attachments that are quite deliberately NOT in the attachments table. The plugin developers expect their sored to not be in the plugin table.

Don't forget, users have the option of of not showing the attachment in the table.

See TWiki:TWiki.FileAttachment#File_Attachment_Controls

Automatic Attachments should honour all attributes of an attachment known in Meta. Therefore if a user marks it as hidden it should remain hidden.

We need to file a bug if hiding attachments does not work.

Disacarded because there is nbo actual bug here CC

Summary Automatic attachments does not play well with other plugins
