Detail

-- TWiki:Main/JohnMalmberg - 05 Jul 2008

Patches are needed to 4.2.0 to support it on OpenVMS.

Details and proposed patches are in the TWiki:Codev.TWikiOnVMS page.

Quick summary of patches:

1. VMS deficiencies in Perl need to be work around.

2. VMS requires the correct File::Spec routines to be used. Windows should also have this requirement but appears more tolerant. Unix is very tolerant of the wrong File::Spec methods being used.

3. Even when the correct File::Spec routines are used, some of them have undocumented undesired features, especially on VMS and Windows.

The TWiki:Codev.TWikiOnVMS page has been updated. One of the patches has a bug where File::Spec->splitdir was incorrectly put in as splitdirs.
