I needed to chmod 555 tools/render.sh to get the Plugin to run. chmod 554 doesn't do the trick. Without that change, the plugin can't render, and so it displays a text message about permissions instead of loading any page on which it is used. But perl BibtexPlugin_installer does Install tools/render.sh, permissions 0444. I haven't checked the zip and tgz files.
