useful when:

  • someone sets the status to "Actioning"; they can also set "AssignedTo" field so that we know who is working on it
  • some bugs can be assigned to a specific person. sometimes we know who should work on a bug.

issues:

  • what if multiple people are working on a bug? is there a need to support that?
    • (no dev time, so if we need that, we should just list the primary dev.)

the major reason that we removed the AssignedTo is that someone might start work on it, and then leave it due to lack of time, thus leaving everyone else ignoring it (this is what happened in Cairo). I agree that it would be nice to know who is actioning something, but in some ways, it seems to have worked better without (that way people harrass each other.

Also, we want to avoid giving others the impression that they can voluenteer someone else to do some work, so it should be a different feld name, one that implies the I take responsibility for this.
