Feature proposal at
TWiki:Codev.UserSpecifiedFilenamesForAttachments
.
This is not strictly a bug report, since the documentation already warns us that the filename argument (in the upload script) is deprecated. However, it used to work in TWiki 4, but has ceased to work in TWiki 5, and is causing us major headaches. We allow many users to upload attachments for various objects, and we would like to provide a prefix to those file names to make sure that attachments belonging to different objects, but having the same name, do not overwrite one another. The implementation in TWiki 5 seems to take into account that multiple files may be uploaded, but no longer allows them to be renamed. The rename script also does not allow attachments to be renamed. So we are at an impasse.
We would like to enhance the upload script to allow users (using the HTTP POST) to submit new names for the attachments. This should not break any existing usage, but would give us the old functionality, we so badly need.
We shall submit an enhancement of the upload script, for your review and inclusion into the mainstream.
