radio buttons and checkboxes yielding tables, they are displayed on the following line of Set VAR =, which looks odd. This is the case with labels - a preference variable you don't want to change by PreferencesPlugin is to be specified as label. All of those should be displayed on the same line just like a text field and a selection.
