with error

svn: Failed to add directory 'twikiplugins/CpanContrib/lib/TWiki/Contrib/CpanContrib': object of the same name already exists

Apparently there is a problem with directory naming, as there is already a directory CPANContrib.

do you want to give us more details of your setup? or shall we drag it out of you over the next couple of days one question at a time? -- SD
Important point: Is this a UNIX/Linux system or a Windows system? Case of filesystem components matters under *NIX CpanContrib is different from CPANContrib. I'm not sure that holds in Bill Gates Wonderful World of Windows. -- AJA
Oops, sorry. This is on Windows, running Cygwin. I think that there must be in the current distribution two directories CPANContrib and CpanContrib. While these are different on a Unix box, they are the same on a Windows machine, and svn will not respond favorably.

Please make sure that directories are named so that things will work in both a windows and a unix environment... -- TW

The directory was renamed in SVN, there is now only CpanContrib. Please let us know if you figure out what to do.

BTW. Updates fine for me on Debian Sarge, SVN version 1.1.4 (r13838).

-- MC

the quick fix for this is to delete the twikiplugins directory, and then svn up

the real solution is to turn on true case sensitivity in windows (i don't know the equiv on OsX) - I think frown -- SD

OK, guys, so sorry, but I will not rewrite windows to make it case sensitive... smile

The long and short is that the directories need to be named consistently, and that there must be no name conflict if names are not case sensitive.

The quick fix suggested above does not work. It just checks the whole thing out again and when it tries to update CPANContrib it gets the same error as before.

Whoever messed this up, please fix the naming so that one can check this out on a windows box. -- TW

i'm not sure why it's messed up; i did an svn rename CPANContrib CpanContrib, so it's not like there's actually two directories named CpanContrib but only differing in case. the other thing i can try is to svn remove CpanContrib and svn add it back (so that it's not an internal link to the old CPANContrib directory). i've been hesistant to do this, fearing it would case more problems, but i can't think of what else to try. -- WN

There still is a directory twikiplugins/CpanContrib/lib/TWiki/Contrib/CPANContrib. I just deleted twikiplugins again and redid a svn up. It creates this directory, puts DEPENDENCIES, MANIFEST, and build.pl there, and then dies trying to create twikiplugins/CpanContrib/lib/TWiki/Contrib/CpanContrib. -- TW
If I browse the SVN tree I see inside twikiplugins/CpanContrib/lib/TWiki/Contrib/ 2 folders: CPANContrib and CpanContrib. Can CPANContrib be deleted? -- AC
I've removed CPANContrib folder and CPANContrib.pm from SVN. -- AC
